Weekend

I planted some tulip bulbs in a pot and forced them in the fridge. They turned out pretty well, I have 2 purple and 2 red so far.
Photos from Brian's birthday:

We had a small lake in the back yard today. Remy decided to wade around in it.

Just thinking..

Some things Matt and I have have been thinking about and discussing. We're black sheep. Of our families, my work and everywhere. Our jobs get in the way and when we're off work we have so many other things to do, it feels like there is time for nothing else. Some days I feel just like giving up, and staying home with dogs. I've worked at Hunt for 3 1/2 years and never made any friends, or long term friends. I talk to my co workers every day but wouldn't consider them friends, only Kim and I've only gotten to know her recently. Matt and I are just different, even with our families. Maybe this is normal. Some days I miss hanging out with all our friends when we went to The Grove, but that was college or shortly after, before we got married and this might be a part of growing up. Mabye Matt's just too geeky. But that's okay, he's lot fun to be around.

I have been reading a book that I borrowed from another dog lover and good friend:

I'm absolutely amazed at the junk that goes into a lot of pet food and I'm only on chapter 4. We only gave Remy the "bad" food briefly right after we got him, he started getting spotted fur, so we switched him to Canidae which cleared it up. And I always thought the better the food, the less poo I have to pick up, which, after giving them a bag of the cheaper junk a few months back, proved to true in our backyard. I'll probably started making them treats, since the "good" ones are expensive and Remy thinks he needs one after he comes in from outside in the evenings and everytime someone goes into the garage. Who said dogs aren't smart? Remy has it figured out. So, if you are interested in what you are feeding your pet, or think you might be feeding your pet, you should check out this book, I'll probably return this one and just purchase one for myself. Don't read it if you have a weak stomach.

People commened on the Robomower. Walmart.com and Sears.com both have them. Plus there are other companies that make similar machines like Lawnbots. Someone said to us tonight that they wanted a robot that dusted. Me too. That would be awesome. Since we got the new floors we haven't used to roomba as much, I think Matt might be eyeing it to make a battlebot. That was a good show, they should bring it back.

If you thought the Roomba was bad.....

We've been test driving this bad boy. It's the robomower and sadly, isn't doing well with our back yard of weeds. I was hoping it would work well and I could sit in the driveway with a lemonade while our neighbors manually mowed. This is Remy barking at it. He's not a fan.
Has anyone watched The Big Bang Theory on CBS? Even though Matt doesn't do Physics, that show is like a normal conversation with Matt. Last night, the first line of the show was about X10 stuff. Matt's been trying to talk me into getting X10 for a while now. He and our friend Mark even found some of Mark's X10 stuff when they were looking for the charger for the robomower this weekend. I'm sometimes just amazed at how smart and intelligent Matt is. I don't understand everything he talks about and tells me, I just smile and nod, but I can keep up most of the time!

Lakeview

This past weekend Matt and I went to Lakeview AR to visit his grandmother. We drove over Saturday morning and came home Sunday morning. It was a fast trip, those pesky jobs sure do get in the way!
We drove down the Gason's and there was a helicopter there ready for take off....it could have been someone famous. We'll never now now.
Matt and I at the the Bull Shoals Dam Visitor Center
The Cedar Springs Inn, the Bed and Breakfast where we stayed. If you ever go over that way, I highly reccommend this place, it's really nice and the owners are great!!Abby and Remy spent the weekend at my cousin's house. Nick has a Lab and two Italian Greyhounds. I bet his house was a zoo! Everyone got along well but Abby and Remy were soooo tired after we picked them up, here they are trying to sleep in the car on the way home. Thanks Nick, we really appreciate you watching them!

Vet...

I know, two posts in one day, what am I thinking? My first one I did during lunch but got an error with actual posting so I added it this evening and could have add on but that's not as fun.

I took the dogs to the vet for their yearly vaccinations, rabies and bordatella and whatever else. Remy has to have a shot of Benedryl before his rabies shot so he doesn't have an allergic reaction. It really makes him sleepy. He's chillin' on the sofa right now and wants to chew on the bone but it's just out of reach and apparently not worth the effort.

Anyway, the first time we got his rabies shot, he swelled up and got bumps all over his head and back. Here's some photos that are the aftermath, this is better that what it was. This was April 2005, and he weighed 20lbs, today, he weighed 73.5.

I caught a...

Weimaraner at the office on Wedneday, along with my lovely assistant and very good friend, Kim. A co-worker came back from lunch and said there was a weim in the parking lot and wanted to know if mine could have gotten out. It would have been quite a feat for Abby and Remy to bust out of their crate and the house but I had to go look. Not mine, but he was cute. He was in the front on the building and started heading toward 540 so I got him to come over to me and Kim went to get a collar and leash out of her car (a pink one since her dogs are female, I don't the weim appreciated it, though). There's really nothing more embarrassing that kneeling down and trying to call the dog to me when the VP of the company walks by. Nice, huh? He was really sweet and mellow (so not my dogs) and liked to lean against our legs. Security had already called animal control so they came and got him. I called yesterday to check on him and he was still at the Lowell PD. No one had claimed him yet, he looked to be in good shape, so I think he escaped from his backyard. There is a man that I work with that wants him when he comes up for adoption, but if he can't take him, I might go bust him out of jail and see if the Weim rescue will help us find him a forever home.

We paid off the Saturn last week! So now we only have the house left.

The floors are laminate. They are wonderful! Easy to clean and are working out well with the dogs, well, after they adjusted to walking on them. Remy got excited the other when I was getting them ready for a walk and all 4 legs slid out from under him and he slid right into the kitchen cabinets. But he was so focused on the walk, he didn't care.

Floors

So, I really need to do a better job of planning our home improvement projects. I had the floors scheduled for nearly a month, it happened to be the same week that Matt's big project was due at work and he had a mid term today. But, we got the carpet out Friday evening and the flooring installed on Saturday. Matt's friend, Chris, helped us, which was such a blessing. We are very thankful for Chris and his family and glad we are getting to know them. I love the new floors, the are wonderful! Abby doesn't seem to care that she slides a little but Remy's not sure about it yet.
Taking out the tack strip

Remy's not sure about all this....

But it sure is exhausting.

Done! Abby's looking for a treat and that's American Dad on the TV.

Thank you Chris! We really appreciate all your hard work!!!
